About Movember:
The Mo, slang for moustache, and November come together each year for Movember.
Movember challenges men to change their appearance and the face of men’s health by growing a moustache. The rules are simple, start Movember 1st clean-shaven and then grow a moustache for the entire month. The moustache becomes the ribbon for men’s health, the means by which awareness and funds are raised for prostate cancer. Much like the commitment to run or walk for charity, the men of Movember commit to growing a moustache for 30 days.
The idea for Movember was sparked in 2003 over a few beers in Melbourne, Australia. The plan was simple – to bring the moustache back as a bit of a joke and do something for men’s health. No money was raised in 2003, but the guys behind the Mo realized the potential a moustache had in generating conversations about men’s health. Inspired by the women around them and all they had done for breast cancer, the Mo Bros set themselves on a course to create a global men’s health movement.
In 2004 the campaign evolved and focused on raising awareness and funds for the number one cancer affecting men – prostate cancer. 432 Mo Bros joined the movement that year, raising $55,000 for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia - representing the single largest donation they had ever received.
The Movember moustache has continued to grow year after year, expanding to Canada, the US, UK, New Zealand, Ireland, Spain, South Africa, the Netherlands and Finland.

Gaylord honoured by prestigious NWFA award
The National Wood Flooring Association (NWFA) is pleased to announce that Gaylord Hardwood Flooring is the winner of an Honourable Mention in the Best Manufacturer Factory Finish Hand-Cut category in the NWFA's 2009 Wood Floor of the Year Contest.
"It is a great honour to win such a prestigious award," stated Gaylord Hardwood Flooring Sales manager Greg Gaylord. "Our company works very hard to produce the best hardwood floors and this award is a direct result of the extra effort of our employees. My Dad, Lewis Gaylord, leads our company in the development of new and innovative product lines and was instrumental in producing this award winning floor."
The voting was done online by the 3,800 wood flooring professionals working world. Fewer than five votes separated the top two entries. The winner was Red Oak Hardwood Floor from Glenview Illinois. The awards were presented during the NWFA's convention in Long Beach, California, April 28 - May 1.
This year's Wood Floor of the Year Contest yielded 142 entries from three countries, including the United States, Canada, and Russia.

Gaylord Hardwood Flooring holds very sucessful Home Builders Information Seminar
Gaylord Hardwood Flooring recently held a very successful and informative seminar in Tweed, Ontario, for 75 home building contractors. Home builders and their key staff attended from Ottawa, Kingston, Brockville, Belleville and many other Eastern Ontario towns.
The seminar was held to share helpful information with the home builders in attendance on a number of complex issues involved in the installation of hardwood flooring. The areas covered included moisture control, repairing damaged floors and new products available in the market place.
"The reason we held this seminar is to pass on all the in-house knowledge we have accumulated over the years to the home building contractors," said Lewis Gaylord, President of Gaylord Hardwood Flooring. "Knowledge is the key to reducing future customer concerns. Understanding how to prevent problems is important not only to the homeowner, it is extremely important to the contractor and to Gaylord. I feel we have come a long way today in getting this job done."
"After today's success, you can be sure that this will be an annual event," said Gaylord. "And we are considering some smaller versions of this seminar for the builders that could not make it to the seminar today."
Greg Gaylord, Lewis's son and Sales Manager added, "We have talked about holding this event for some time now, and finally put it together. I am amazed at the number of builders who were willing to take the time from their busy schedules to join us and absorb all of the valuable information. We believe it will help all of us run a more successful and trouble-free operation. Yes, with this first successful seminar behind us, we will definitely be holding this function on an annual basis."
