Delivery Driver (Cross-Border) - Sales Representative
Location: Tweed, Ontario
Employment Type: Full-time
Travel: Frequent, multi-day road trips across Canada and the United States (lodging and meals covered via company credit card)
POSITION SUMMARY
The Delivery Driver – Sales Representative is responsible for safe, on-time delivery of hardwood flooring to job sites and showrooms and for developing new business through cold calling, scheduled visits, and disciplined territory management. The role requires regular cross-border travel and professional representation of the company with builders, designers, retailers, and contractors.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Sales & Business Development
- Prospect, cold call, qualify, and convert new accounts; schedule meetings and product demonstrations.
- Manage a pipeline in the CRM; provide structured activity and revenue reporting.
- Present product options, pricing, and value propositions; negotiate within approved guidelines; close orders and drive repeat business.
- Grow the assigned territory through structured route planning and a consistent follow-up cadence.
Delivery & Client Service
- Load, secure, transport, and deliver hardwood flooring (palletized/boxed) to job sites and customer locations.
- Verify orders, obtain signatures, resolve delivery issues professionally, and identify upsell opportunities (treads, vents, underlay).
- Maintain vehicle cleanliness and comply with all safety and material-handling procedures.
Compliance, Travel & Administration
- Cross the U.S. border in compliance with all requirements; maintain valid documentation at all times.
- Prepare and manage delivery documents (BOL, commercial invoice, basic USMCA documentation as required).
- Record fuel, lodging, meals, and other travel expenses using the company credit card per policy.
- Adhere to company policies for safety, customer communication, and brand standards.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- Licences: Valid Ontario Class G and Class AR (Restricted A) driver’s licences, in good standing.
- Vehicle scope: Capable of operating up to a 3-ton straight truck (and light commercial vehicles); competent with pallet jacks and liftgates.
- Travel documents: Valid Canadian passport or NEXUS; able to travel to/from the United States without restriction.
- Physical demands: Ability to safely lift and maneuver 90 lb (41 kg) bundles; team-lift above that threshold; work on active job sites.
- Demonstrated sales aptitude (cold calling, in-person presentation, objection handling, closing).
- Professional communication skills (verbal and written) and reliable follow-through.
- Basic technology proficiency (smartphone, email, GPS, and CRM usage). Preferred
- Experience in building materials, flooring, or related construction products.
- Familiarity with cross-border shipment paperwork (BOL, commercial invoice, USMCA basics).
- Forklift certification and/or TDG awareness; knowledge of MTO/DOT cargo-securement and hours-of-service basics.
COMPENSATION & COMPANY SUPPORT
- Base salary plus sales commission (range to be provided).
- Company vehicle and fuel or mileage reimbursement
- Company credit card for travel expenses; lodging and meals covered on overnight trips per policy.
- Training on products, routes, CRM, and sales process.
- Opportunities for advancement (e.g., Territory Sales, Key Accounts).
- Schedule: Primarily Monday–Friday; frequent overnight travel based on season and territory needs. Occasional early mornings; most weekends at home.
